Charles Schwab Corp CEO Rick Wurster is reportedly eyeing an April 2026 launch window to provide spot Bitcoin (BTC) trading services to Schwab clients, as per reports from RIABiz. Wurster mentioned a 400% increase in traffic to Schwab’s crypto website as an indication of investor interest in digital assets. The CEO expressed optimism about launching direct spot crypto trading within the next year, attributing it to the changing regulatory environment. This move aligns with the trend of traditional financial institutions embracing crypto products, blurring the lines between digital assets and traditional finance. Under Wurster’s leadership since 2025, Schwab aims to offer crypto trading services to clients, awaiting a favorable regulatory catalyst. After the re-election of Donald Trump, the company anticipates an improved regulatory environment for expanding its digital asset services. Schwab’s CEO, who admitted to not owning any cryptocurrency, acknowledged the missed investment opportunities in the growing asset class. In a strategic move, Charles Schwab partnered with the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) in January 2025 to provide customized exchange-traded funds and cryptocurrency services for the upcoming “Truth.Fi” platform. This initiative aims to offer both digital assets and traditional financial services as an alternative to the conventional banking system. TMTG CEO Devin Nunes emphasized providing an option for individuals concerned about unfair banking practices, censorship, and privacy violations by big tech and corporations. The collaboration reflects Schwab’s commitment to diversifying its service offerings and engaging with the evolving financial landscape.
