TradingView, a popular chart analysis service, is reportedly facing a bug in its Fibonacci retracement technical analysis tool as per a tweet by Elliott wave analyst Cryptoteddybear on June 13. The Elliott wave principle is used for predicting financial market prices based on recurring patterns. Cryptoteddybear highlighted in a YouTube video that the tool performs linear calculations on logarithmic charts, posing a challenge for Elliott wave traders. TradingView’s official Twitter account acknowledged the issue and mentioned that it is under investigation. The bug was first reported over five years ago, but the company reportedly ignored it. Despite assurances to fix the bug, it remains unresolved. Cryptoteddybear claims to have requested technicians to prioritize fixing the bug. TradingView recently added the “CIX100” index for the top 100 cryptocurrencies. Coin Metrics, a cryptocurrency analytics company, acquired Bletchley Indexes to launch crypto smart beta indexes. TradingView is yet to comment on the bug.
