“Ethereum Foundation Shifts Focus to User Experience & Layer-1 Scaling in Leadership Reshuffle for Near-Term Protocol Upgrades”

The Ethereum Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing the Ethereum ecosystem, has realigned its focus towards user experience and layer-1 scaling challenges after a recent restructuring of its leadership team. Tomasz Stańczak, the Ethereum Foundation co-executive director, shared insights on the organization’s new direction post the leadership changes. The aim is to allow Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin more time for research and strategic exploration, rather than day-to-day operations and crisis management. Buterin’s recent contributions have accelerated long-term breakthroughs within the Ethereum community. Since the appointment of Hsiao-Wei Wang and Stańczak as co-directors, Buterin has taken a step back from daily activities to concentrate on proposals to enhance Ethereum’s privacy and speed. His privacy roadmap, unveiled on April 11, includes features to anonymize user transactions, emphasizing default activation. Additionally, Buterin proposed modifications to the Ethereum Virtual Machine’s contract language on April 20 to improve the blockchain’s execution layer’s efficiency and speed. The Foundation is now focusing on near-term objectives such as user experience enhancements and scaling solutions in upcoming protocol upgrades, including Pectra, Fusaka, and Glamsterdam. The team is also exploring long-term projects to innovate next-generation execution and consensus layers. While Ethereum Foundation’s efforts concentrate on short-term outcomes, they are also looking to implement initiatives to bring long-term projects to fruition. The Foundation aims to advance the Ethereum ecosystem by initiating discussions and fostering progress in diverse research areas.
