The ceasefire in Myanmar, which was implemented following a destructive earthquake last month, is set to end on Tuesday, despite appeals from aid organizations and global mediators to prolong it in order to facilitate relief operations. The earthquake that struck on March 28 has resulted in over 60,000 individuals residing in temporary tent settlements and has placed a staggering two million people in a state of “critical need of assistance and protection,” as reported by the United Nations.
