The Indian government recently announced new guidelines for international travelers arriving in India, which will come into effect on August 8, 2020. According to the guidelines, travelers must submit a self-declaration form on the online portal www.newdelhiairport.in at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel. They are also required to upload a negative COVID-19 test report on the portal. Upon arrival, passengers will undergo thermal screening and those found symptomatic will be required to undergo testing. Travelers without a negative test certificate will be subject to mandatory institutional quarantine for 14 days at their own cost. However, for compelling reasons such as death in the family, pregnancy, or serious illness, home quarantine may be permitted. The guidelines also state that airlines should identify passengers at higher risk (such as older adults, pregnant women, and passengers with comorbidities) and ensure that they are provided with the necessary assistance. It is important for international travelers to familiarize themselves with these guidelines to ensure a smooth entry into India. These measures have been put in place to control the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of the Indian population. Travelers are advised to stay updated on any changes to the guidelines as the situation evolves.
