The Indian government has recently announced new guidelines for international travelers arriving in India amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. According to the guidelines, all travelers must submit a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal before the scheduled travel and upload a negative RT-PCR test report. The test must be conducted within 72 hours of the journey. Additionally, travelers from countries where the new COVID-19 strain has been detected are required to undergo a mandatory seven-day institutional quarantine at their own cost, followed by seven days of home quarantine. Those coming from other countries can seek exemption from institutional quarantine by submitting a negative RT-PCR test report on arrival. However, they will still have to undergo seven days of home quarantine. The guidelines also state that all travelers must submit a declaration with respect to the authenticity of the report and will be liable for criminal prosecution if found to violate the guidelines. These new guidelines aim to curb the spread of the virus and ensure the safety of the population. Travelers are advised to stay updated on the latest regulations and take necessary precautions while traveling to and from India.
