Indian javelin champion Neeraj Chopra recently responded to backlash over his decision to invite Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem to the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru in May 2025. Chopra explained that the invitation was extended prior to the Pahalgam attacks and expressed dismay over the hate speech targeted at him and his family. The Olympic gold medalist reaffirmed his loyalty to India and underscored that the primary goal of the event was to boost Indian sports. However, Chopra acknowledged that Nadeem’s participation in the competition is no longer feasible.
