Fourteen fishermen hailing from Rameswaram, who were detained in Sri Lanka, have successfully repatriated to India and arrived in Chennai on Friday night. The Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department extended a warm welcome to the fishermen and made transportation arrangements for them. The fishermen had been apprehended by the Sri Lankan Coast Guard on March 17, leading to their subsequent imprisonment. However, through diplomatic channels and efforts, the fishermen were able to secure their release and return home. The safe return of these fishermen marks a positive development in the ongoing efforts to address issues related to fishing activities in the region.
