A recent report by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has revealed that former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is allegedly the main beneficiary of kickbacks obtained from Andhra Pradesh distilleries starting in 2019. The scandal reportedly included pressuring distilleries to pay bribes in order to prevent interruptions in supply orders. The illicit funds were then gathered and funneled through hawala networks, leading to a significant impact on the state’s liquor industry by promoting brands associated with syndicates.
