According to the latest report from the World Bank, India has made remarkable strides in reducing extreme poverty, lifting 171 million people out of poverty between 2011-12 and 2022-23, bringing the poverty rate down to 2.3%. This progress translates to 378 million individuals being lifted out of poverty when using a poverty line of $3.65 per day. Despite these impressive numbers, India still faces challenges such as youth unemployment and gender disparities in employment, even as overall employment rates continue to rise.
