The United Nations Security Council has issued a condemnation regarding the recent Pahalgam attack in Jammu & Kashmir. However, efforts by Pakistan, with the support of China, have led to a watering down of the statement’s language. This differs from the condemnation of the Pulwama attack, which called for cooperation specifically with the Indian government. The revised Pahalgam statement now only refers to cooperation with “all relevant authorities,” a shift that came about after intense negotiations. It is believed that Pakistan aimed to prevent India from gaining any advantage in the investigation by pushing for this change.
