Assam police arrest 16, including AIUDF MLA, for seditious remarks post Pahalgam attack; National Security Act possible.

Assam police have apprehended sixteen individuals in connection with purportedly seditious remarks made following the recent Pahalgam terror incident. The detainees include AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has hinted at the potential implementation of the National Security Act in response to the situation. Sarma strongly criticized Pakistani politician Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his anti-India comments. Moreover, India has decided to suspend the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, attributing this action to Pakistan’s alleged backing of cross-border terrorism.
