Come May 1, 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to implement a new ATM transaction framework that will bring about revisions to free limits and charges. Under the new guidelines, customers will be entitled to three free ATM transactions in metro cities and five free transactions in other areas. Any transactions exceeding these limits will incur a fee of Rs 23. In response to these changes, banks such as HDFC and PNB have begun informing their customers about the updated charges. The objective behind these modifications is to encourage the use of digital banking services and simplify the overall ATM usage experience.
