The Ethereum Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting development on the Ethereum blockchain, distributed $32.6 million in grants in the first quarter of 2025. The organization reported various initiatives funded through its Ecosystem Support Program (ESP), covering categories like community and educational grants, zero-knowledge and cryptography, execution layers, developer tools, layer-2 networks, and overall ecosystem growth. Out of the 101 grants awarded, 32 focused on community and education, while 16 aimed to enhance developer experience and tooling. Additionally, 14 grants went to cryptography and zero-knowledge proof projects. The foundation also allocated grants for execution and consensus layer projects, protocol growth, and other areas like decentralized finance. In related news, Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade recently went live on the mainnet, introducing improvements in layer-2 scaling, validator user experience, and smart account wallet features. Following the upgrade, Ether (ETH) prices rebounded to a 30-day high of $2,400 on May 9. Currently, the crypto asset is trading at $2,345. This upgrade marked a significant milestone for the Ethereum ecosystem, paving the way for further advancements in the blockchain network.
