Hackers exploited Mobius Token smart contracts on the BNB Chain, resulting in a loss of over $2.15 million in a targeted attack discovered on May 11, as per security firm Cyvers Alerts. The attacker executed the exploit at 07:33:56 UTC, draining funds from the victim’s wallet. The attacker deployed a malicious contract to drain 28.5 million MBU tokens, converting them into stablecoins, causing a loss of $2,152,219.99 for the victim. Cyvers flagged the exploit as “critical” due to suspicious contract code and abnormal transaction patterns. The attacker’s wallet remains active with the stolen funds. Mobius Token’s team is yet to issue an official statement. In other news, PeckShield reported that the blockchain space experienced around $360 million in digital asset thefts across 18 hacking incidents in April 2025, marking a significant increase from the previous month. The losses included a $330 million unauthorized Bitcoin transfer, identified as a social engineering attack targeting an elderly individual in the United States. This incident adds to the growing concerns of security breaches in the cryptocurrency industry.
