Delhi airport launches new system to improve airside operations

Delhi Airport operator DIAL has introduced the Unified Total Airside Management (UTAM) system aimed at improving operational efficiency and safety at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), and radar, UTAM oversees the movements of airside vehicles, monitors aircraft operations, and proactively identifies potential issues to prevent delays through timely alerts. The system streamlines turnaround times, optimizes taxiway assignments, and manages runway occupancy while ensuring adherence to speed regulations. Following a successful trial run with Akasa Airlines, other carriers are set to gradually integrate into the UTAM framework at IGI Airport, bolstering overall airside management capabilities.
