A massive avalanche hit the Sarbal area of Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday, fortunately causing no casualties. The incident was captured in a video by ANI showing the avalanche heading towards a stationary vehicle. This comes shortly after a tragic avalanche at a BRO camp in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district claimed the lives of eight workers. The Western Himalayas are known for being highly susceptible to avalanches, often triggered by both natural occurrences and human activities. Scientists continuously monitor the conditions to evaluate risks and put preventive measures in place to minimize the impact of such disasters.
