A massive avalanche hit the Sarbal area of Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, fortunately with no casualties reported. The incident was captured in a video by ANI showing the avalanche heading towards a stationary vehicle. This event follows closely after a tragic avalanche at a BRO camp in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli that claimed the lives of eight workers. The Western Himalayas are known to be highly susceptible to avalanches, which can be triggered by both natural factors and human activities. Scientists closely monitor conditions to evaluate risks and put preventive measures in place to minimize the impact of such disasters.
