The Economic Survey 2024-25 of Maharashtra has indicated a significant reduction in funds allocated for women’s schemes, showing a 57% decrease in Shakti Sadan facilities’ residents and a 36% cut in funding for women’s hostels. Moreover, women’s counseling centers have witnessed a substantial 69% drop in allocations, leading to concerns about the government’s dedication to women’s welfare amidst a rising need for support. These findings raise questions about the state’s priorities and its ability to address the challenges faced by women in Maharashtra.
