The IT Department’s Benami Prohibition Unit in Hyderabad has made a major crackdown on election-related hawala transactions in Telangana. As a result, an impressive sum of Rs 22.4 crore has been attached under the Benami Transactions Act. The seized unclaimed cash was discovered during the department’s monitoring of election activities. Notable seizures include Rs 5 crore in Gachibowli and Rs 3.3 crore in Bachupally, along with various other significant amounts. This move by the IT Department showcases a strong stance against illegal financial activities during elections in the region.
