Tamil Nadu CM urged to halt Silhalla hydro project amid environmental concerns in Nilgiris; public consultation set.

The Sillahalla Ecological Social Protection Association has appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin to abandon the Silhalla hydroelectric project to prevent environmental harm and livelihood disturbances in the Nilgiris region. Local residents highlighted Stalin’s previous opposition to the project in 2013 and raised alarm over the possible inundation of agricultural and forest areas. A public hearing regarding the project is set for March 20.
