Tamil Nadu’s Stalin government has taken a firm stance against the implementation of a third language in schools, citing a loss of Rs 2,152 crore in Samagra Shiksha funds. Accusing the Centre of “cheating,” the state government points to the non-release of funds due to non-compliance with the three-language formula outlined in the New Education Policy. As a result, Tamil Nadu has resorted to utilizing its own funds to ensure the welfare of school students and pay teacher salaries. The state’s commitment to education is evident in its allocation of Rs 46,767 crore in the budget. This move underscores the state’s dedication to providing quality education despite the financial setbacks caused by the withholding of central funds.
