The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revealed the closing redemption value for the Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2016-17 Series IV at Rs 8,634 per gram. Initially issued at Rs 2,943 per gram in March 2017, investors have gained a remarkable 193% return over the span of eight years, excluding any interest. Sovereign Gold Bonds offer not only capital appreciation but also tax benefits and periodic interest payouts, making them an appealing choice for investment in India.
