Rupee plunges to two-week low at 87.33 against dollar amid global economic worries and Chinese yuan weakness.

The rupee witnessed a significant decline against the dollar, marking its most substantial single-day drop in a fortnight, as it closed at 87.33. The currency’s downward trend was attributed to increased dollar bids and the depreciation of the Chinese yuan. Although several banks intervened with dollar sales to provide some support, the rupee continued to be impacted by the selling pressure in the domestic stock markets and prevailing global economic uncertainties.
