“India’s Renewable Energy Capacity to Double by 2030: Government Report”

In a recent development, the Indian government has announced new guidelines for social media platforms and digital news outlets in the country. The guidelines aim to regulate digital content and ensure transparency and accountability among these platforms. Social media companies and digital news outlets will now be required to appoint grievance officers who will address user complaints within a specific time frame. These officers will be responsible for resolving user grievances and taking action on content that violates the law or platform policies. Additionally, social media platforms with more than 50 lakh users will have to publish regular compliance reports detailing the complaints received and the actions taken. The new guidelines also mandate that social media companies must remove content within 36 hours of receiving a complaint related to nudity or sexually explicit material. Failure to comply with these guidelines could result in penalties for the platforms. The Indian government has stated that these regulations are necessary to safeguard the interests of users and ensure a safer online environment. The move comes amid growing concerns about the spread of misinformation and fake news on social media platforms. It is expected that these guidelines will bring more accountability and transparency to the digital space in India.
