Rajya Sabha approves Waqf Bill with BJD support, awaiting Presidential assent after 15-hour debate.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill was successfully passed by the Rajya Sabha with a vote of 128 in favor and 95 against, following a lengthy 15-hour debate that saw the support of BJD bolstering NDA numbers. The bill, which has already received approval from the Lok Sabha, is now pending the President’s assent. During the debate, minority affairs minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized that the bill is inclusive of both Muslims and non-Muslims.
