The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has criticized the Central government for what they perceive as inequitable tax revenue sharing, asserting that Tamil Nadu only receives 27 paise per rupee collected, significantly less than states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) such as Uttar Pradesh. The party advocates for a more even-handed allocation of funds across all states. In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the implementation of infrastructure initiatives valued at over Rs 8,300 crore in Tamil Nadu. These projects encompass the development of new railway and highway systems, with the goal of enhancing connectivity and fostering employment opportunities in the region.
