Executives from major cryptocurrency firms Messari and Sygnum are optimistic about institutional Bitcoin adoption in India by the end of 2025, despite the current market downturn due to US trade tariffs. During a panel discussion at Paris Blockchain Week, Messari CEO Eric Turner and Sygnum Bank co-founder Thomas Eichenberger predicted a significant increase in the banking sector’s involvement with crypto in the second half of the year. They believe that global banks will start offering Bitcoin services as regulators worldwide embrace cryptocurrencies, including stablecoins and crypto services by banks. Turner highlighted the importance of broader regulatory momentum over the pro-crypto stance of US President Donald Trump. He emphasized the potential impact of market structure regulation, stablecoin regulation, and overall regulatory acceptance of crypto by institutions. Eichenberger noted that international banks with US branches are gearing up to enter the market once the legal framework becomes clearer. He mentioned that these banks have been preparing to offer crypto custody and spot trading services. With clear crypto rules for banks in the US, Eichenberger expects a surge in crypto services offered by large international banks, including those with a US presence. He stated that regulatory uncertainties are no longer a hindrance for these banks to launch crypto-related services. This development signifies a positive shift in the banking industry towards embracing cryptocurrencies and offering related services to customers in India.
