The Indian government has recently announced new guidelines for international travelers arriving in the country, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. According to the guidelines, all international passengers will need to submit a self-declaration form on the online portal www.newdelhiairport.in at least 72 hours before their travel. Additionally, travelers must upload a negative RT-PCR test report on the portal and also submit a declaration with respect to the authenticity of the report. Passengers who are unable to submit the self-declaration form and the negative RT-PCR test report will not be allowed to board the flight. Upon arrival in India, travelers will have to undergo thermal screening and those found symptomatic will be immediately isolated and taken to medical facilities. Passengers without symptoms will have to undergo a mandatory 7-day institutional quarantine at their own cost, followed by 7 days of home quarantine. The guidelines also state that passengers arriving from the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East will have to undergo an additional RT-PCR test upon arrival in India. These new guidelines come in the wake of the emergence of new variants of the virus and are aimed at ensuring the safety of the Indian population. Travelers are advised to carefully go through the guidelines before planning their travel to India to avoid any inconvenience during their journey.
