Hyderabad HC upholds death sentences for 5 IM operatives behind 2013 Dilsukhnagar twin blasts.

The Hyderabad High Court has confirmed the death penalty for five Indian Mujahideen operatives convicted in the 2013 Dilsukhnagar twin blasts case. The blasts, which occurred on February 21, 2013, at a crowded shopping area in Dilsukhnagar, resulted in the deaths of 18 people and injured over 130 others. The convicted operatives – Yasin Bhatkal, Asadullah Akhtar, Zia-ur-Rahman, Tahseen Akhtar, and Ajaz Shaikh – were found guilty of planning and carrying out the terrorist attack. The court upheld the special NIA court’s decision to sentence them to death, stating that the case fell under the “rarest of rare” category. The twin blasts were a significant terrorist attack that shook the city of Hyderabad and led to a massive investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The NIA had presented strong evidence linking the five operatives to the planning and execution of the blasts. The confirmation of the death penalty by the High Court is seen as a major victory in the fight against terrorism in India. The verdict sends a strong message that those involved in such heinous acts will be brought to justice. The families of the victims have welcomed the court’s decision, hoping that it will bring them some closure after the tragic events of 2013.
