Pakistan has recently granted more than 6,500 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims for the upcoming Vaisakhi festival. This move has prompted the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) and the Punjab government of Pakistan to make adjustments to their logistical plans. In order to effectively handle the significant number of pilgrims, the authorities have decided to split the visitors into two separate groups. Each group will visit different Gurdwaras before coming together for the main festivities at Nankana Sahib on April 14th. This decision has been made to ensure a smooth and organized experience for all pilgrims participating in the celebrations. The Vaisakhi festival holds immense religious and cultural significance for Sikhs, marking the beginning of the Sikh New Year and commemorating the formation of the Khalsa Panth under Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699. With the revised arrangements in place, both the PSGPC and the Punjab government of Pakistan are aiming to provide a memorable and spiritually enriching experience for the visiting Indian Sikh pilgrims. The move to issue a large number of visas reflects Pakistan’s commitment to promoting religious tourism and fostering strong cultural ties between the two neighboring countries.
