In a significant development in the 2002 Godhra train burning case, three juveniles involved in the Sabarmati Express arson attack have been handed a three-year jail term by the Juvenile Justice Board, more than a decade after the incident that claimed the lives of 59 kar sevaks. The convicted individuals, who are now 40 years old, were minors aged 17 at the time of the tragic incident. This decision comes after 31 other individuals were previously convicted in connection with the case. Notably, two suspects were acquitted, and one passed away during the course of the trial. The sentencing of these three juveniles highlights a long-awaited legal resolution in one of the most infamous incidents in India’s recent history.
