The Cabinet Committee on Security in India has recently given the green light to a substantial deal worth close to Rs 64,000 crore with France for the procurement of 26 Rafale-Marine fighter jets intended for the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. This agreement encompasses 22 single-seat jets and four twin-seat trainers, complete with accompanying weapons and support systems. The delivery timeline for these fighter jets is estimated to fall within a window of 37 to 65 months. This significant development marks a strategic move to bolster India’s defense capabilities and enhance its military preparedness.
