The Indian government has recently announced new guidelines for international travelers arriving in India, effective from February 22, 2021. As per the latest rules, passengers must submit a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal before their scheduled travel. They also need to upload a negative RT-PCR test report conducted within 72 hours of their journey. Additionally, passengers originating from the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East are required to undergo a self-paid confirmatory molecular test upon arrival at the airport. Travelers from Brazil and South Africa will have to undergo institutional quarantine even if they test negative. Those arriving without a negative RT-PCR test report will have to undergo a mandatory 7-day institutional quarantine. The guidelines also mandate thermal screening for all passengers upon arrival and stipulate strict adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behavior. These measures have been introduced to curb the spread of new variants of the coronavirus in India. The government has advised travelers to follow the guidelines meticulously to ensure public health and safety. Failure to comply with the regulations may result in penalties or deportation. It is essential for all international travelers planning to visit India to stay updated on the latest guidelines and requirements to have a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.
