An Israeli military probe has uncovered that the tragic deaths of 15 emergency responders in Gaza on March 23 were a result of what has been termed as an “operational misunderstanding” and violations of established protocol. The incident, which took place in Rafah’s Tal al-Sultan region, occurred when troops mistakenly interpreted a situation as a threat. As a consequence of the investigation’s findings, disciplinary measures have been taken, including the removal of a battalion commander from their position and the reprimand of a brigade commander. This revelation sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the loss of lives during the conflict in Gaza.
