CJP leaders released in Delhi with year-long peace bond, police say
Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were released on Sunday after an executive magistrate hearing, with police citing a Rs 50,000 surety bond.
Three leaders leave custody on Sunday
Cockroach Janata Party leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were released from detention in Delhi on Sunday, October 11, following an executive magistrate’s order. The Indian Express and The Times of India separately reported the release after the leaders had spent Saturday in police custody.
The Indian Express reported that the three left the Delhi Cantonment police station in a vehicle at about 10.15 am. The Times of India cited advocate Soutik Banerjee confirming that all three had been released and could leave.

Delhi Police said the leaders had been preventively arrested on October 10 under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. They were brought before the executive magistrate in Delhi Cantonment on Sunday, according to the police statement carried by both newspapers.
Police said a Rs 50,000 surety bond had been furnished for maintaining peace and good behaviour for one year. The Times of India also reported CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh’s account that the release required the leaders to avoid a breach of peace during that period.

The leaders had arrived from Mumbai on Saturday and were detained after landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport. They had travelled to Delhi for a planned Jantar Mantar demonstration seeking Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
The Indian Express reported that police had refused permission, citing prohibitory orders in New Delhi. It also reported a fresh CJP protest call for Sunday and a planned 2 pm press conference after the release. The Times of India said police had also cited public safety and law-and-order concerns.
