Hansal Mehta’s new series begins filming with Bipasha Basu

Production starts on the untitled crime drama

Hansal Mehta’s next Prime Video series has entered production, with Bipasha Basu, Sunny Kaushal and Vishal Jethwa joining its ensemble. The makers announced the start of filming on Monday, according to reports in NDTV and Moneycontrol.

The update establishes a production milestone rather than a streaming launch. The show has not yet been given a publicly announced title, and its release date remains undisclosed. The announcement identifies the principal cast without revealing every character.

A police officer facing pressure from both sides

The announced premise centres on an honest police officer in a small town that is becoming a major hub for the heroin trade. Sunny Kaushal plays the officer, who must confront criminal networks while also facing pressure within the system.

That description comes from the production’s synopsis. It outlines the fictional conflict, rather than suggesting that the show documents a particular real town or criminal case. The reports do not identify a specific real-life investigation as its source.

Bipasha Basu and Vishal Jethwa are part of the cast, but details of their roles have not been released. Character names, relationships and plot twists should therefore remain open until the makers disclose them.

The creative team and the next milestone

Kashyap Kapoor and Raghav Raj Kakker are credited as the writers. Prabhleen Sandhu produces under Almighty Motion Pictures Productions, with Mehta directing. The production’s social-media announcement describes the project as an untitled story beginning its filming journey.

For Basu, the new series follows her appearance in the 2020 series Dangerous. NDTV also notes that her last theatrical release was Alone in 2015. Those earlier credits provide context for this newly announced acting project.

The immediate development is the start of shooting. A title reveal, fuller character information and a streaming date would be separate announcements; none should be inferred from the production-start post.
