Indian national dies after Riyadh airport attack; embassy offers aid

India’s embassy confirms an injured Indian national died after the Riyadh airport attack and pledges support for the family and repatriation.

Embassy confirms death after Saturday’s attack

An Indian national injured in the October 10 attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh died on Sunday, the Indian embassy said in an update reported by The Indian Express and NDTV. The confirmation adds a new development to India’s earlier response condemning the airport attacks.

The embassy said it was in contact with the deceased’s family and would support the early repatriation of the mortal remains. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed condolences and said the embassy would extend assistance, The Indian Express reported.

Officials follow up with hospitals and authorities

The Indian Express reported that ten other Indians were wounded. Embassy officials had contacted local authorities to enquire about their condition and had also reached out to hospitals. The mission said it would provide further updates as information became available.

These statements describe ongoing consular support. The promise to assist with repatriation does not establish that the body has already been returned to India. The embassy’s announcement placed the family contact and support arrangements at the centre of its response to the death.

Updated casualty report and wider response

NDTV reported that the Indian national’s death raised the overall death count to thirteen. More than three hundred people were reported injured in the attack. According to its report, the strike hit the airport complex housing terminals 3 and 4, and a Saudi-led coalition blamed Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

India had already condemned repeated attacks on the airport and civilian infrastructure. The latest embassy update concerns the Indian casualty and assistance for the family, rather than a new announcement that travel services have resumed. The accompanying terminal image is a modified 2008 archive reference and shows no evidence of the attack.
