Shivaji Satam, Rohini Hattangadi and other colleagues remember Nana Patekar at a Mumbai prayer meet, with a Natsamrat rangoli tribute.
Colleagues gather in Prabhadevi
Actors and filmmakers gathered in Mumbai to remember Nana Patekar at a prayer meeting in Prabhadevi. The Times of India reported the gathering on October 14, and The Indian Express carried a report the following morning. Both identified the venue as the P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy complex.
Shivaji Satam, Rohini Hattangadi, filmmaker Sanjay Jadhav and director Mehul Kumar were among the attendees named by both publications. The Indian Express also reported the presence of Varsha Usgaonkar and Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.

The Times of India identified the gathering as Aathvanilya Nana and described a rangoli at the venue’s entrance depicting Patekar’s character from Natsamrat. The artwork connected the memorial with a performance closely associated with his Marathi film career.
The report presented the meeting as a place for colleagues, friends and admirers to remember his work in cinema and theatre. The venue and the tribute brought the remembrance into a shared public space, separate from the earlier funeral in Pune.

In remarks carried by The Indian Express and attributed to ANI, Mundhe remembered Patekar’s sensitivity and concern for people facing hardship. He described his late friend as “a man of great utility and purpose” and spoke about his interest in helping poorer communities.
Patekar died on October 8 at the age of 75. His last rites were held at his farmhouse in Pune district, with The Times of India reporting state honours. The Mumbai prayer gathering is a subsequent memorial event: the new reporting concerns those who came together there, its tribute artwork and the recollections shared at the venue.
