When has Nora Fatehi been asked to appear?

Nora Fatehi has been summoned to Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on November 2 as a witness in the extortion case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar. PTI and ANI reported the direction on October 30. The reports describe her role as a prosecution witness.

PTI places the summons in an order dated October 16, issued by Additional Sessions Judge Gagandeep Singh. That distinction establishes the timeline: the court direction predates the October 30 news reports, while the scheduled appearance is still ahead. The summons should not be read as a report that Fatehi has already testified.

What does her listing in the case mean?

Both reports identify Fatehi as LW-3 in the third supplementary chargesheet. PTI explains that people listed to give evidence are initially numbered as listed witnesses, or LWs, and become prosecution witnesses, or PWs, after appearing before the court.

The November 2 direction therefore concerns her attendance to give evidence in the case. The role described in these reports is a witness summons; the listing itself should not be presented as a finding of wrongdoing against the actor.

What allegations does the case concern?

According to ANI, the case concerns allegations that Chandrashekhar impersonated senior government officials while in Rohini Jail and extorted about Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh during 2020–21. Singh is the wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh. The report says Chandrashekhar allegedly offered to arrange her husband’s release from prison in return for money.

ANI also reports that Fatehi had previously been questioned about an event in Chennai in December 2020. She told investigators that her interaction with Chandrashekhar was through his wife, Leena Maria Paulose. These are reported statements and allegations in the case, rather than conclusions reached by the summons order.
