Rajkummar Rao and Sourav Ganguly plan Kolkata Puja visit for Dada
Rajkummar Rao plans to join Sourav Ganguly at South Kolkata Puja pandals on Mahashtami as the Dada biopic team prepares its first major public appearance.
An upcoming joint appearance in Kolkata
Rajkummar Rao is set to join Sourav Ganguly for a Mahashtami visit to Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata. Bollywood Hungama reports that the outing is being planned as the first major public appearance for the team of Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story since the film’s announcement.
Rao plays Ganguly in the biopic. The planned visit will take them to South Kolkata pandals, including local celebrations the former India cricket captain has visited since childhood. Selected members of the film’s crew are also expected to accompany them. The announcement concerns a forthcoming appearance; it is not confirmation that the visit has already taken place.

Moneycontrol corroborates the plan for Rao and Ganguly to participate in the Kolkata festivities. Its report identifies the film as a biographical sports drama directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and written by Abhay Koranne, with Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg producing.
The supporting cast includes Tanya Maniktala as Dona Ganguly, Saswata Chatterjee as Chandi Ganguly and Vedant Sinha as a younger Sourav. Luv Films backs the project, presented by T-Series and DBL. The announced theatrical release is May 14, 2027, putting the Puja appearance ahead of the film’s arrival in cinemas.

Bollywood Hungama says the itinerary is intended to bring the film’s lead actor and its real-life subject into contact with local residents, cricket followers and cinema audiences. Ganguly’s long association with the neighbourhood celebrations gives the planned outing a personal setting alongside its connection to the biopic.
The available reports describe visits to several South Kolkata pandals without confirming an individual venue list or appearance times. For now, the development is the announced joint Mahashtami outing, while Dada remains scheduled for its May 2027 theatrical release.
