Akshay Kumar’s Samuk finishes UK shoot, moves to Mumbai

A production milestone for the sci-fi thriller

Akshay Kumar’s Samuk has completed its United Kingdom shooting schedule, with the production preparing to finish its remaining work in Mumbai. NDTV and Bollywood Hungama report that the next stage is a final schedule lasting 20 days.

The update concerns filming rather than a trailer launch or a new release-date announcement. Samuk is being developed as a science-fiction action thriller, combining an alien premise with survival and action elements. The reports place its planned theatrical arrival in 2027.

What remains to be filmed

Bollywood Hungama reports that the team had been working in the UK since late August and that roughly 80 per cent of the film was completed there. That proportion is a reported production estimate; it does not mean the film has completed editing, effects or other post-production work.

Kanishk Varma directs the project for producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Sunshine Pictures, with Aashin A. Shah also credited as co-producer. The move to Mumbai will cover the portions still to be shot. The reports do not specify a confirmed calendar date for the final day of filming.

The cast and specialist teams

Alongside Kumar, the announced ensemble includes Rukmini Maitra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Swanand Kirkire, Banita Sandhu and Sushant Singh. The makers have withheld detailed character descriptions and much of the story.

The production also involves creature-effects designer Alec Gillis, whose credits include the Alien and Predator franchises. NDTV identifies Luke Tumber as the action director. These credits describe the team behind the project, rather than establish how its finished sequences will look.

For audiences following Samuk, the immediate development is the transition between shooting locations. The next production milestone to watch is completion of the Mumbai schedule, while the reported pan-India release plan remains for 2027.
