Rs 5 crore demand under investigation
Tusshar Kapoor has reported an extortion threat demanding Rs 5 crore, according to reports published on November 3. The person behind the message claimed a connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but police accounts in both NDTV and The Indian Express cast doubt on that claimed identity.
The Indian Express reported that a voice note was sent to the actor by someone identifying himself as Hari Boxer. Kapoor approached local police, and the matter was subsequently handed to the Mumbai Crime Branch. Its anti-extortion cell is examining the threat.
[1][2]Voice comparison raises doubts
Police officials quoted by The Indian Express said a comparison with earlier threats attributed to Hari Boxer suggested the sender was not the person he claimed to be. An officer also said no one had claimed responsibility for this threat, which differed from the gang’s usual pattern.
NDTV separately reported that technical checks against voice samples had not produced a match. Its report said investigators suspected a hoax and were working to trace the caller. Those findings leave the sender’s identity unresolved; the claim made in the threatening message is not confirmation of gang involvement.
[1][2]What the reports establish
NDTV placed the complaint roughly a week before its November 3 report. The fresh development is the public account of the investigation, rather than confirmation that the threat itself was received on Tuesday.
The Indian Express also reported police suspicion that someone could be exploiting fear following the firing involving Tiger Shroff. That remains an investigative assessment, not proof connecting the two cases. The police scrutiny described in the reports concerns both the extortion demand and whether the sender falsely adopted a known gangster’s identity.
