Stock market fraud case: Bombay HC grants relief to ex-Sebi chief Buch, halts ACB action until March 4

The Bombay High Court has provided temporary relief to Madhabi Puri Buch, the former SEBI chairperson, and five other officials by instructing the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to withhold filing an FIR against them until March 4. The court’s decision came in response to a complaint alleging regulatory lapses during a 1994 company listing. Both the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) have refuted the accusations, deeming them baseless. The case has garnered attention due to Buch’s prominent position in the financial sector. The high court’s intervention has paused any immediate legal action against Buch and the other officials, allowing them time to prepare their defense. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
