China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, commenced a four-day visit to Russia on Monday, aiming to bolster mutual political confidence in anticipation of President Vladimir Putin’s potential groundbreaking trip to Beijing in October. Wang, who leads both the foreign ministry and the ruling Communist Party’s foreign affairs office, is scheduled to engage in annual security discussions with Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, as announced by the Chinese foreign ministry.
