India’s sugar production has recorded 219 lakh tonnes by February 28, showing a decrease of approximately 14% compared to the 254 lakh tonnes produced at the same time last year. Currently, 186 sugar mills have wrapped up their crushing operations, a significant increase from the 72 mills that had closed by this point last year. This decline in sugar production can have various implications on the sugar industry in India.
