Indian Railways, under the leadership of Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, has unveiled strategies to address overcrowding at stations by implementing crowd control measures at 60 major stations across India. These measures include the establishment of permanent waiting areas outside the stations, enhanced surveillance systems, and improved foot over bridges. The railway authority also plans to enforce complete access control at these stations to regulate the flow of passengers effectively. Additionally, the introduction of dedicated war rooms and the empowerment of station directors with financial resources will further enhance crowd management and ensure passenger safety, especially during peak travel times. These initiatives are aimed at drawing lessons from the successful crowd control strategies implemented during the Maha Kumbh festival and are expected to streamline operations at busy railway stations in India.
