Sandalwood actress Ranya Rao was recently apprehended at Kempegowda International Airport for attempting to smuggle 14.2kg of gold from Dubai, thereby avoiding duties amounting to Rs 4.8 crore. According to legal authorities, it is crucial to note that smuggling is a non-compoundable offence as stipulated under the Customs Act. This means that simply paying a fine will not be enough to resolve the situation.
