Goa CM vows to protect investors, plans to appeal to SC for support.

Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, has expressed his commitment to protecting investors in the state. In response to concerns raised by investors regarding the recent Supreme Court order on mining in the state, Sawant assured that the interests of investors would be safeguarded. The Supreme Court had recently quashed the second renewal of 88 mining leases in the state, leading to uncertainty among investors in the mining sector. Sawant stated that his government would appeal to the Supreme Court to protect the interests of investors and ensure that mining activities can resume in the state. He emphasized the importance of striking a balance between economic development and environmental concerns. The mining sector is a significant contributor to the state’s economy, and the Chief Minister’s assurance is aimed at restoring confidence among investors. Sawant also highlighted the need to explore alternative modes of revenue generation to compensate for the loss incurred due to the mining ban. The government is working towards sustainable solutions to address the challenges faced by the mining sector while ensuring environmental sustainability. The Chief Minister’s proactive approach in addressing investor concerns is expected to have a positive impact on the business environment in Goa.
