Foreign Investors Witness Worst Annual Equity Selloff in FY25: Rs 1.5 Lakh Crore Outflows; Domestic Investments Surge

Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) are currently facing a significant equity selloff in India in FY25, with outflows totaling Rs 1.5 lakh crore, marking their worst annual performance. The majority of this selloff has taken place in the secondary market, contrasting with domestic investors who have displayed robust confidence by pouring in a record Rs 4.7 lakh crore in FY25. Even though FPIs have been net sellers, they continue to be active buyers in the primary market. The trend reflects a shift in investment patterns, with domestic investors stepping up their participation while FPIs navigate challenges in the Indian equity market.
